Bringing English to Everyday Life: K-12 Education Administration Introduces Foreign English Teaching Assistants to Boost Student Confidence

To create an English learning environment for students, the K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education has implemented the English Language Teaching Assistant Program (ELTA Program) since the 2021 academic year. Through collaboration between foreign English teaching assistants and local teachers, the program helps schools cultivate real-life, immersive English learning environments. In the 2025-2026 academic year, the K-12 Education Administration provided NT$83 million in subsidies to 611 elementary and junior high schools across Taiwan to introduce these assistants, allowing children to surround themselves with English and use English through natural interactions, gradually incorporating the language into their school life.
