A Multitude of Internship Projects Receive Grants from K-12 Education Administration of MOE: a Seamless Transition between School and Career

In order to fulfill the core value that stress much on the demand of the job market, and increases the skill and employment rate for the vocational schools graduates, K-12 Education Administration, which is governed under Ministry of Education, offered grants to senior vocational schools (as well as senior high schools with affiliated vocational sections) to promote short term internship projects, through which students can garner their hands-on experiences. With the help of these grants, the schools will be able to arrange one-to-six weeks of internship training for their junior or senior students, or a half-a-day, or one-day, field trip to the related industries or exhibitions, hoping that students can learn more about the industry, acquire more hands-on skills, and tailor their skill to address the needs of the industries.
Since its launch in the school year of 2014, a total of 152 schools have applied for the grants. Almost all the schools with vocational sections applied. The participation rate is high, up to 96.81%. There were 3,124 combined grant projects amounting to107.474345 million Taiwan dollar. A total of 190,121 students, which belongs to 3,043 different classes, received such grants, thereby gaining precious hands-on experiences. Thus, this program is effective in terms of its participation rate and coverage. In addition, the coverage of grants extends pretty far, its recipients includes not only schools that are governed under the K-12 Education Administration, but also schools that are governed under the education departments of the special (Executive-Yuan-governed) municipalities. Such non-exclusion policy demonstrates the cooperative spirit between different administrations.
